Solid Ragdolls have been around since the very beginning of the Ragdoll breed. Ann Baker, the founder of Ragdolls, in the 60's, used both Solids and Pointed Ragdolls in her breeding program. She promoted the Pointed Ragdoll for the uniqueness of the Ragdoll "look", however, she continued to use the Solids believing they contributed to the breeds vigor, deep eye color and size. Every year there are more Ragdoll breeders around the world that are choosing to add Solid Ragdolls to their breeding programs. Meriwidoz cattery has had solids for several years now, and BlackPurrl's Solid Ragdoll Cattery began in 2004, when Greenstone/Northpole Ragdolls had a beautiful litter of Solids. It was love at first sight with these sweet kittens, and from a once "traditional" breeder, I have now gained a true appreciation for the Solid Ragdoll lines.
